Who Ritz’d Easter Better in the Caribbean – Obama or Wright?

Apparently both Obama and Wright thought they could use a break from the spotlight for Easter – and both decided a Ritz-Carlton in the Caribbean was the place to do it (Wright at the Ritz in Puerto Rico and Obama at the one in St. Thomas). But who celebrated the Lord’s Resurrection in the ritzier resort you ask? Well lets look. According to the NY Post’s Page Six:

“[T]he preacher, who retired from his post last month, abandoned his flock for the sunnier climes of Puerto Rico. Our spies caught him lounging in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton, where rooms rates start at $399 a night.”

Starting at $399… Not bad for Wright, but I bet Obama can do better. Via Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts on the WaPo’s Reliable Source:

“Barack Obama and his family sneaked away to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for some Easter week R&R… The Virgin Islands Daily News reported yesterday that a CNN video of Obama lounging in a cabana was shot at the Ritz-Carlton; we’ve since confirmed that’s where he stayed. Fodor’s calls the Ritz the island’s ‘most luxurious’ resort (marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, kids’ program), on 15 acres at the eastern tip of the island. Cheapest rooms this week are $599 per night, ocean views go for $699 and up.”

I’m guessing if the minimum is $200 higher they’ve got the hotter Holy Week package. I could be wrong and am definitely open for additional input – and have to admit I haven’t been to either. But in the meantime, this music video of “Puttin on the Ritz” (huge hat tip to Extreme Mortman) goes out to you both – NM3 being a music blog and all:

  1. That is some hard hitting news there
